Neither snow nor rain nor heat ... nor rabid dogs?

The indignities silently endured by the noble postal worker are many. Bad weather, rude customers, overstuffed mailboxes courtesy of people who forget to stop their mail when they go on vacation...it's a tough job. The mailmen and women of Hazel Park, Michigan had to endure one more indignity this month - man's best friend. According to the Madison Park News, the USPS has had to suspend delivery to entire blocks this month because of recent attacks by dogs who were left chained up in residents' front yards, which is apparently something of a norm in that neighborhood.

In one bizarre case, a resident purposefully released two full-sized poodles from his front door as the mailwoman arrived to deliver the mail. The mailwoman was chased back to her vehicle and was luckily not injured. The police arrived shortly after, argued with the owner, and had to wrestle him to the ground to arrest him. Mail delivery has resumed to that block but mail to the man's residence is suspended indefinitely.

One has to wonder what motivated the man ... isn't the mail something you kind of want to come to your house??
